Fire Fighting

On the Scene

As a Captain at Broward County Fire Rescue Station 6, John Stevenson takes charge of any and all emergencies on his shift. As a 25-year verteran, he has seen it all and done it all.

John started at Port Everglades in the Fall of 1977. The Port put him through fire fighting school and he was assigned to C-Shift the following year.

Over the years, he rose through the ranks to become a Shift Commander. For two years he served as the Port Fire Training Officer, but eventually went back to his first love, being a shift commander of a highly specialized group of men and women.
